Local Kiwanis Club thanks Valley Park School District Staff

Valley Park School District staff returning to school after Spring Break were greeted with surprise snack packs. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Meramec Valley Community assembled 196 individual packs as a “thank-you” for the staff’s commitment to their students during the COVID-19 pandemic. All teachers, school support staff, bus drivers, maintenance, custodial and food service workers were treated to packs of snack foods which included Skinny Pop® Popcorn and Quaker® Granola Bars, along with a thank-you note from the Kiwanis Club.

In April, Valley Park School District staff members received thank-you snack packs from the Kiwanis Club of Meramec Valley Community.

Kiwanis Club marks 20-year Milestone:
$21K in Scholarships for Valley Park High School Graduates

Officials from Valley Park School District accepted a donation for their Scholarship program at a recent meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Meramec Valley Community. This marked the 20th year the club has given a scholarship to a graduating senior at Valley Park High School. Donations have totaled more than $21,000.

In presenting the check, Kiwanis Club President David Green said, “Circumstances during this pandemic have presented challenges for the club to continue its work in supporting the community. We are pleased that we are able to continue the club’s commitment to local high school graduates, especially during COVID-19.” In 2020, the club’s #1 fundraiser, an annual Kiwanis Trivia Night, was cancelled, however the club raised funds with a 20th Anniversary Raffle last fall. Members are planning a Summer raffle. Also, the club sponsors a scholarship for Parkway West High School students.

Chartered in 2000, the Valley Park Kiwanis Club is now named the Kiwanis Club of Meramec Valley Community. It is a non-profit service organization that focuses on the needs of children and young adults. It has expanded its support from Valley Park to serving a wider area – the South and West communities of St. Louis County. Members hold a lunch meeting the first and third Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at the Lazy River Grill in Ballwin, Mo. Visitors are welcome. For more information, visit www.mvkiwanis.org.
